About
Harpeth River – Bellevue/Nashville
Broken Paddle Outfitters is a full service canoe, kayak, and tube rental outfitter. We offer rentals and shuttles 7 days a week on the Bellevue portion of the Harpeth River (15 min from downtown Nashville). Our boat access and gift shop at 8547 US-70 is open seasonally (weather depending outside of Memorial/Labor Day). While we do accept walk up reservations, it is best to reserve your trip in advance (online booking cut off is 12 hours in advance) to guarantee your launch time.

Our Services
Trips on the Harpeth
First launch 9am – Last 2pm
Must be off the water by 6pm**

Meet us at your takeout location, we shuttle you to your launch, then you float back to your takeout.
*Boats, paddles, life jackets, and shuttle service to your launch are included in the rental.

Drop your boats off at your launch location, then drop your cars off at your take out. We will shuttle you back to the launch.
*We cannot put your boat on our trailer, you must drop them at your launch first.
*Save money by leaving any non-driver at the launch with your boats.

No place to store your boat? Let us hold it for you on a rack at our facility. You are free to come pick it up any time during business hours.
If you would like to take your own boat on one of our regular routes, call or text us and we will take your boat to your launch for a small additional fee.

- From there you can add everything you need for your group’s trip including different boat types, child life vests (no extra cost), and much more.
- When booking, the name of the route is your takeout location and that will be where you park to catch the shuttle.
- After booking, you will receive an email with details about your trip and links to where to meet.
- That email will also have a link to our liability waiver, which everyone needs to fill out prior to arrival.
- If you don’t see a boat type for the day you’ve selected, it is sold out.
- CALL for availability of SAME DAY reservations (online reservations can only be made 18 hours in advance)

FAQ's
- You must be 18yrs old or older to rent.
- Payment in full for all rentals is due at the time of reservation.
- $100 late fee per person if you exit the river past 6pm
- Broken Paddle Outfitters, LLC reserves the right to refuse to any individual(s).
- Yes. There is a $100 per person late fee for groups exiting the river later than 6pm.
- If you feel your group is lagging behind and does not reach the I-40 bridge before 5pm, call us in advance for grace on this fee.
We offer 2, 3, and 6 hour trips. Those times are based on normal flow/water levels and on time paddling the whole way. Any time that you stop to hang out should be added to the base time. For instance, if you choose Hwy 100-Coley Davis (2 hr trip), it will take you 2 hours to paddle the whole way without stopping under normal conditions. Low water and stops to rest are added to the 2 hour baseline. We will update you on about how long it will take the day of your trip. There is a $100 late fee per person in your group that arrives at the take out later than 6pm.
Hwy 100, Coley Davis, Newsoms Mill, Broken Paddle Outfitters, Hidden Lake, and Hwy 249. Hwy 100 is launch only and Hwy 249 is take out only.

When determining if you meet the weight limit, keep in mind that the more weight in the boat, the lower it sits in the water. When water levels are low, it is advisable to have the least amount of weight in the boat possible.
-Single kayaks: 310 lbs
-Tandem kayaks: 395 lbs
-Canoe: 806 lbs
2 plus a child. It is highly recommended to keep it to 2 adults unless you are experienced paddlers (and in that case why are you trying to sit 3 in a canoe?).

Our last regular scheduled trip launches at 2pm. Check our social media or call for special events such as sunset floats for later launches. Exceptions can be made for larger groups. Call 615-669-8196 for scheduling.
- Cancellations made over 1 week (7 days) of scheduled trip: Full refund, no penalties (other than credit card processing fees).
- Cancellations made under 1 week (7 days) of scheduled trip: Rain check, or 50% refund.
- Cancellations made within 24 hours of scheduled trip: no refund.
- Cancellations due to high water, lighting, hard rain, or other unforeseen conditions: Rain check or refund (minus credit card fees).
- All refunds will incur the credit card fees associated with the original booking.
Yes! We offer canoe/kayak shuttle service (Canoe-ber) to/from any launch location we service (check map for current locations).
Because boat sizes vary, we cannot put personal watercrafts on our trailers. When you schedule a shuttle with us, you will drop your boats at your intended launch location first, then drive to your take out to catch the shuttle back to your launch. You float back to your cars.
Damage will be assessed on a case by case basis and the booking party’s card will be charged accordingly. It is your responsibility to check your boat and notify us of any damage before departure. If you lose a canoe paddle, it is $40, kayak paddles are $70, and life jackets are $25.
Absolutely! These are calm, flatwater river trips. Perfect for first timers and kids. We also have kids sized life jackets included in the rental. If the water gets high, we will contact you and offer you a reschedule if you are not comfortable floating.
We offer doorstep to doorstep service anywhere in the 37221 zip code (based on availability). Pick ups outside 37221 can be scheduled for larger groups. Doorstep service fees can only be reserved by calling 615-669-8196.
